Alt-pop gem back to your dad’s by Berlin-based PENNY X, it’s the fruit of her collaboration/songwriting session with producer Freddy Rochow. back to your dad’s is an angry, edgy track that was birthed from some seriously intense jam sessions.
This Alternative-Pop artist is a young, talented artist who isn’t afraid to tell it like it is through her music and lyrics. PENNY X blends electronic and real instruments to create her unique sound, always making sure her voice stands out in the mix. She is a fantastic singer who can switch between singing loud & soft within a single song.
PENNY X reveals: “I’m not an angry person at all, but at that moment I had to think of how my ex had just posted these cute couple pics and even moved in with his new girlfriend – something he would’ve never done with me. Seeing him treating her so much better than he ever treated me made me really mad and then it felt like the song just started writing itself”.
She’s a fresh face in the music scene, having started writing songs when she was 12. She spent months at different recording studios in Nashville and Chicago, mastering various instruments. These moments helped shape her music which still influences her creative process today.
PENNY X isn’t sticking to one genre and that’s what the ‘X’ in her name stands for. She’ll explore multiple styles on her debut EP, which comes out in February 2023.
