It’s been a hectic summer so far for Rocky and Shaun of local pop heroes Oppenheimer, with gigs in the US and Scotland as well as having tracks from their eponymous debut album used in Channel 4’s “Ugly Betty†(This Is Not A Test) and Fujifilm Ireland’s latest TV ad (Nine Words).
Today, the band announce a double show in the Spring & Airbrake on Saturday 22nd September, with an afternoon, all-ages show followed by an evening show. With a mouth-watering support line-up to be announced and a brand new album planned for the new year, this will be one of the gigs of the year!!
Oppenheimer biography:
Oppenheimer are two guys called Shaun and Rocky from Belfast. Having signed to Bar/None Records (New York), the band released their eponymous debut album in June 2006 – a selection of luscious and melodic indie-pop cuts, effortlessly combining influences from Joyzipper to Brian Eno.
With plays on ABC / Channel 4 show Ugly Betty, Nike and Fujifilm adverts and Sydney Fashion Week, Oppenheimer are spreading their pop sound worldwide. The band have been touring constantly since the album’s release, traversing Europe and the USA, alongside the likes of Hot Chip, Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly and Architecture in Helsinki.
The band are currently in the studio in Belfast laying down their second album, set for release Autumn / Winter 2007.
