Local indie-pop band Oppenheimer have announced a competition for all the teenage bands in Northern Ireland, offering the chance for one act to support them at a special all-ages concert in Belfast’s Spring & Airbrake on Saturday December 19th this year. Applications will close on November 30th and the winner will be announced on December 1st.
Oppenheimer, formed in 2005 by Rocky O’Reilly & Shaun Robinson have toured the world playing concerts with bands like They Might Be Giants, Kings Of Leon, Ok Go, The Presidents Of The USA, The Flaming Lips, and many more and have had their music used in TV shows like Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother and Pimp My Ride.
They have spent recent months recording a brand new album, set for release next year and will finish up this year with a short Irish tour, culminating in this special all-ages concert on December 19th. Knowing how important live music is and how difficult it is for young acts to be given the platform to play live music venues in Belfast, Oppenheimer & CDC Leisure want to do what they can to include and encourage the under eighteens to experience live music performance in one of the city’s premier concert venues.
Oppenheimer will select one winner to support this show and give the chosen act advice and help with load in, soundcheck, venue protocol, interacting with production staff and will also offer tips and advice on live performance.
The winners will be selected from demo submissions, either via email, web link or post.
Applications will close on November 30th and the winner will be announced on December 1st.
The winning act will appear live on stage in The Spring & Airbrake on Saturday 19th December at 3.30pm playing alongside local up & coming act The Key Of Atlas and headliners Oppenheimer. The selected act will also be paid a modest fee for their set. All genres from pop to metal to hip hop and dance are accepted and encouraged.
To apply please email band information and contact details and either an mp3 recording or link to one of your songs on the web (such as myspace) to email@example.com or send your act’s information and contact details along with a CD to
