OLI Gets Reflective On New Single

“There are days when you won’t have any control over your thoughts, you’ll think of anything and everything all at once,” explains OLI, who co-wrote this newest track with legendary producer Benny D, a longtime collaborator. “I wanted the song to show how that felt. When it’s late at night and all I can tell myself is ‘don’t over think’, whilst knowing I absolutely will anyway.”

London based singer-songwriter OLI has returned with her first release of 2021, Think About It. An incredibly personalised track with an equally tender music video constructed partially from old home footage.

Both song and video evoke feelings of nostalgia, and the process of growing up in an existential and intelligent manner, as the song follows the maturity process of the British artist. The alt-pop track takes it steady in its pacing and tempo, as the beats suit the situation perfectly for a 3am listening session, with racing thoughts and no sleep. A calming lull of a song, OLI wrote and recorded Think About It last year after the success of her first two songs.

The video meanwhile, tackles the big subjects thought about by someone who is deep in their own bubble of thoughts. “It’s about the big things we take in, like the universe and our place in it. But also, the small family moments that are just as important.”

With her first two songs, Happy and What Happened to You, leaving strong first impressions, OLI channels all manner of influences from Sade to Stereophonics in her journey of achieving the right pop sound. The first single from the artist of 2021, many will be awaiting what more is to come.
