Q1. What problem were you both trying to solve for independent artists that made this collaboration make sense right now?
A lot of independent artists are seeing real growth, but they still don’t have easy access to funding. They need money to keep building their careers and moving at the speed the industry moves today. This collaboration was about giving artists faster access to capital without giving up ownership or control of their music.
Q2. How does the process work from an artist’s point of view. From applying within Octiive to receiving funding?
It’s designed to be very simple and artist friendly. Artists can apply directly inside Octiive, through the dashboard. From there, Sound Royalties quickly reviews their streaming and royalty performance and if they qualify, they receive an offer. Once accepted, they’re funded fast so artists can keep building without a long complicated process.
Q3. Speed is a big part of this. what enables some artists to access advances in just a few days?
The process is built around real streaming and royalty data so decisions can happen fast without all the delays of traditional financing. Everything is digital and designed specifically for independent artists, and how they actually work today.
Q4. How do you ensure the model remains artist-friendly while also being sustainable, particularly in terms of repayment and ownership?
The biggest thing is artists keep ownership of their music. Repayment is tied to future royalties and the artist’s actual earnings, so they can keep growing without losing control of their catalog or adding extra stress.
Q5. Looking ahead, how important do you see funding becoming within the broader distribution ecosystem for independent artists?
It’s becoming a huge part of the business. Distribution today is more than just putting music online. Independent artists need real tools, and real support to build long term careers. And funding is part of that now.
