It’s the First Release in a Series of NFT Releases
Brooklyn-based songwriter Verite returns this week with a glorious, funk-rich new single he’s not you, an essential piece of pop-funk bliss. Filled with energy and an infectious hook, the track chronicles a feeling of single-life freedom, as Verite states below:
“He’s not you is a song about knowing you should be alone, but ignoring that reality because fucking around is more fun. It’s about how fucking around leads to feelings and feelings lead to confusion and provide a perfect distraction from the reality you’ve been ignoring, that you should…be alone. We’ve come full circle.”
Alongside her creative output, VÉRITÉ is working on an experiment with her work, as she sees the music industry as something which has systematically extracted the value from music. Believing that financial investment in an artist and their work shouldn’t equate to a loss of someone’s autonomy, VÉRITÉ is exploring the use of NFT’s in reinvigorating that lost value. “he’s not you” is the part of a series of singles VÉRITÉ plans to release, as she further extends into a world of new sounds and new collaborations.
“I wrote this song on a magical zoom call with a new friend Mathias Wang, who is an incredible producer who plays many instruments. This song is a bit of a different sonic direction for me, but the entire song and production literally fell into place. I knew it was a side of myself I wanted to put into the world. As an artist, it feels really amazing to not take myself so seriously and have some more fun.”
