Nottingham’s Commons. Rocking the scene with debut single ‘Queen Of Hearts’ and EP ‘Clean Living’

“At its core is a song about a ‘man eater’ of a woman who doesn't care who's hearts she breaks, as long as she eventually gets what she wants.”

Hailing from Nottingham, Commons is making waves in alternative rock with their debut single, Queen Of Hearts, a prelude to their upcoming EP, Clean Living, set to drop on May 24th. Inspired by bands like Kasabian, Foals, and Bloc Party, Commons creates a sonic landscape blending energy, maturity, and infectious melodies, while conveying emotional depth and sincerity.

Explaining the inspiration behind the single, the band describes Queen Of Hearts as a portrayal of a woman who is unapologetically ruthless in pursuit of her desires, regardless of the hearts she may break along the way: “At its core is a song about a ‘man eater’ of a woman who doesn’t care who’s hearts she breaks, as long as she eventually gets what she wants.”

Queen Of Hearts introduces listeners to Commons’ distinctive sound, blending lush electronic atmospheres with energetic rock sensibilities. The track kicks off with a reverb-soaked steel drum synth, leading into overlapping guitar lines that crescendo with punching drums, urgent vocals, and grounding bass. As the song progresses, the vocals transition in and out of falsetto, creating a psychedelic atmosphere before returning to an angular verse.

With their captivating live shows leaving audiences in awe, including a sold-out performance at Beat The Streets Festival, Commons is poised for even greater success. Their forthcoming headline gig at Rough Trade Nottingham on June 8th is anticipated to mark yet another milestone on their path to stardom.
