"We create our realities through the stories we tell ourselves, and by separating them by naming them something else (like monsters), they don’t get to become a part of you. You hold the power of what your life should look like"

A deep dive into self-discovery and resilience, ahead of debut EP

Rising independent artist Andrea Nord shines with her latest single, Monsters. Known for her emotive vocals and poignant songwriting, the Norwegian artist skillfully merges compelling storytelling with deeply personal experiences to create a unique sound

Monsters was inspired by Nord’s own struggle with fitting in and negative self-perception. “I wrote this song to her. She wanted to fit in so bad, but she was too much. Monsters is about the negative thoughts we hold on to. We create our realities through the stories we tell ourselves, and by separating them by naming them something else (like monsters), they don’t get to become a part of you. You hold the power of what your life should look like.

Nord’s haunting vocals merge seamlessly with Mota’s dynamic production, creating a poignant reflection on overcoming self-doubt and embracing one’s individuality. “I used to express myself through clothes and hairstyles cause I felt mute most of the time. But as an anxious teenager, I always knew I would one day be able to express myself.” Nord shares about her journey.

A graduate of Norway’s hit-making school LIMPI (Lillehammer Institute of Music Production and Industries), Nord honed her craft under the mentorship of industry giants like Stargate and Emily Warren. Her dedication to music garnered recognition when her song became the “all-time most played song” on the Voisey app in 2020. Following the release of Little Thing earlier this year, Monsters offers a second glimpse into her highly anticipated debut EP, Closer To My Monsters Than My Friends.

Collaborating with Portuguese producer Bruno Mota, known for his work with Pusha-T, Nord has crafted a collection of songs exploring themes of self-discovery, resilience, and mental health. The EP, meticulously shaped over three years, will be released as singles throughout 2024, with Monsters leading the charge.

Taking inspiration from artists like FLETCHER, Julia Michaels, and Troye Sivan, Nord’s music resonates with authenticity and vulnerability. Monsters not only sets the stage for her debut EP but also promises to offer solace and inspiration, deeply connecting with listeners navigating their own struggles.
