NIEVES ‘BROKEN OARS’: ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS, MENTAL HEALTH AND THE STRUGGLES FACING THE AVERAGE FAMILY

NIEVESGlasgow based quartet Nieves – Brendan Dafters (vocals/guitar), Herre de Leur (piano), Martin Murray (guitar) and Ross Forsyth (drums) – drops ‘Broken Oars’, another con and emotionally charged pop number that follows nicely with their splendid debut ‘Matriach’ EP.

Brendan explains: “Broken Oars is written in two halves. Set in a small fishing village, the first section of the song looks at a young girls’ relationship with her father, who she idolises. The second half focuses on her husband 30 years later trying desperately to keep his family together after the death of this important figure in his wife’s life. The song explores relationships, mental health and the struggles facing the average family”
