FAME RECOMMENDS: NEWTON FAULKNER ‘STUDIO ZOO’newton faulkner1Multi award-winning singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner is not only set to release his highly anticipated new album ‘Studio Zoo’ (released through RCA on August 26th), but has also announced an extensive UK/Irish tour for early 2014 as well.

On the first single from the album, ‘Losing Ground’, Newton says: “It’s about battling on even when you know you’re on the back foot. You go through ups and downs and it’s about being in a down but being ok with it, because you know there must be an up on the way…hopefully.”

We at Fame were fortunate enough to get a pre-release version of the album and here are our thoughts on it.

First off we have to acknowledge the fact that the man himself has made history with this release already. He live-streamed the recording process from his home studio 24/7 for 5 weeks.NEWTON FAULKNER 1The album itself more than meets expectations here and delivers on so many levels. The folk tinge we all know and love of course appears throughout, but there is so much more hiding within each intricately created track.

Some of the slower songs may lose their way slightly, but they do work well within this album environment and don’t take away from the truly exceptional ones included.

Stand-outs for us here at Fame HQ are lead single ‘Losing Ground’, which has everything you wish for in a Faulkner track. It is upbeat, melodic and one that will no doubt get some serious radio air play as well. Coming a close second is ‘At The Seams’ which has a more mellow edge to it, but most certainly is the finest way for the singer to showcase his wonderful vocal range as well.

Studio Zoo is an album that definitely delivers the goods. Newton is a highly talented artist and has created something very special here. With this album to plug and the rest of his well-received material too on offer, the upcoming UK/Irish tour is sure to sell out with ease.
