You have played quite a few big festival in Canada this past year, if you were to sum the experience up in three words, what would they be?
Growth & Beautiful Connections
What is your favourite song to perform live at the moment and why?
It’s in between Get it Right and Out The Dirt. The latter because of its grittyness and flows and the latest single because the crowd’s energy gets super high!
How would you describe your music to someone who may have not heard it before?
Content wise, its honest introspective gritty and raw. Sound wise I guess it can be a love child between Kendrick, The Weeknd and Drake – melodic, lyrics focus with contending flows.
What is your favourite album to listen to at the moment?
I’m not really listening to a particular album right now. Just different records, from 6lack, Burna Boy, Tory Lanez, Saint JHN among others.
Who or what is your inspiration when making music?
Different things can inspire me. On one hand listening to artists that inspire me like Kanye, Cole, 6lack etc, each inspiring me in different ways sonically. But on the other hand, just living and being present on my journey and the emotions and stories that come with that are what inspire me the most to create.
What has been the most memorable moment of your career so far?
Getting messages from people who told me my music impacted them when they were in a dark space and it helped them gain confidence to see their light. That is whats most memorable to me, to not only realize but to see that this is way bigger than me.
If you were to choose one person to collaborate it, who would it be?
What is next for Naya Ali, what can we expect in the near future?
Well, right now an album early 2020, then the plan is to cross to the States but..I’m just taking it one day at a time 🙂
