GIRLS Aloud star Nadine Coyle’s on/off boyfriend Jesse Metcalfe is swapping the movie set for Manchester, making an exclusive appearance at the city’s popular night club, Opus.
The jobless actor, who shot to fame playing teenage gardener John Rowland in the hit TV show Desperate Housewives, is rumoured to be making a string of public appearances across the UK, including Northern Ireland, where girlfriend Nadine is from.
Since exiting the sassy Channel 4 show, starring Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria, Metcalfe has had mediocre success breaking into movies.
While his first film after Desperate Housewives, John Tucker Must Die, grossed $41 million in the US, it wasn’t well received by critics.
One movie reviewer called it “slick, stupid and slightly sleazyâ€, while another labelled it “painfulâ€.
Since then the 28-year-old has wrapped thriller Loaded with Vinnie Jones, due for release in November, but has no film projects in the pipeline.
Online gossip columnist Perez Hilton has dubbed Jesse’s club appearance next Friday as the end of his career.
He posted: “Be warned citizens of Manchester, U.K. – hasbeen actor Jesse Metcalfe is coming to town!
“Yup, his new career is as a professional partygoer. He gets paid to show up places so that people can gawk and make fun of him.
“Poor Jesse. He’s tainted in America. No one wants to work with himâ€.
