London’s Muscle Vest make ugly rock music that exhilarates with sleazy discordant guitar work and a loud pounding rhythm section. Creepy Crawlie intoxicates the listener from the outset with a sharp and addictive sound, a sickly combination of politically charged shouts and hard-rock noise.

The band’s new EP Live Laugh Loathe out June 11th sees them exploring oppressive elements of modern society from morals-free corporatism to toxic masculinity, cults of personality and a dash of Lovecraftian horror.

Easy comparisons could be made to Idles but we think they are also taking in elements of Shellac, The Jesus Lizard and perhaps their London dirt-rock counterparts Phobophobes. The brashness of ‘Creepy Crawlie’ definitely makes the skin crawl like coming across a furry spider in your soup but we absolutely love it. As lockdown lifts, let’s all unload the stress build up with a mosh to Muscle Vest!
