Performer and producer Jay Das kicks off 2021 with the release of Stitches. Not only stunning musically, its video is slick and stylish, partnering perfectly with the dark mood of the track.
Co-produced with Aiden Robert, the trap instrumental brings hallmarks of the genre, with thumping 808s, sharp hi-hats and ambient synth plucks painting the backdrop. With a super catchy chorus, Jay’s sung vocals are punctuated by clever raps.
“Stitches is about dealing with the psychological scars from a toxic relationship,” explains Jay. “Mental abuse is often unnoticed in relationships, and the song talks about confronting this, where moving on is the only remedy.”
From a musical family in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Jay now makes music and resides in the US, retaining influences from around the globe. Stitches follows up successful releases such as Change and Drop Dead, that have amassed tens of thousands of streams on Spotify alone.
The video, created by Jay’s longtime friend and collaborator Guillermo Viera, mirrors the mood of the piece well. Swiftly edited, cutting between multiple different shots, the sets and lighting create an impressive and brooding vision of the song.
With both video and song stunning and memorable, Jay Das certainly looks to be an exciting prospect for 2021.
