Technology, AR/VR and the way it is going to utterly change everything (and already has). We were the first band in the world to play a new kind of AR/VR live show, which uses a virtually reality app we built ourselves. The album was written at the same time, so its music that was born out of us playing secret mixed reality live shows in London/Paris/Amsterdam/Hamburg – in warehouses, cinemas, art galleries.

Tell us about your new single for ‘Half of Us’?

The single is about a girl we know who is a gamer and who has a huge following on Twitch, where she used to stream her games. She had to give it up because of the horrible amount of sexism and abuse she would get. The song is about the layers of reality technology creates- often leading to people acting in a really unpleasant way- but its also about the way it can bring people together. So much is said about how we are “all on our screens” and how instagram/Twitch influencers are shallow – but there is a really beautiful side to these new ways of communicating that often gets overlooked. The back and forth between the ultra happy female vocal in the song, and the intensity of Tomo’s beats and Jamies distorted bass feels like the audio equivalent of this.

What can we expect from you in 2020?

We have our first show in Paris next week as well as SXSW and a few other things we’ll be announcing soon- We always make our videos with the Miro Shot Collective, a group of artists around the world who are part of our band – sign up to Miroshot.com to join!
