Legendary Guns N’ Roses Former Manager & Tastemaker, Vicky Hamilton presents Compromise, South Carolina rockers Lovely World‘s new track, via her own label Dark Spark Music and distributed by Orchard internationally. The rather convincing and refreshing rock number was produced by Rick Parker (Lord Huron, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club). The aptly engaging video is by Ridge Beck.
Here’s our chat with the highly promising band…
So, what’s up, guys? What’s on your mind?
Currently working on albums worth of new material. We know we won’t record these songs for a while but we’re still very excited about them.
Tell us everything about the single Compromise.
It’s a raw and powerful track. The lyrics came after seeing a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche saying “I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws.” It’s pretty much about the relationship between power and morality.
Why did you pick your band name?
Very cynically haha. It honestly came from overhearing this group of people talking about how lovely it was outside. Since it was kind of a weird time, joking about it seemed appropriate.
When did you form the band and start writing music?
Us three (Landon, Cade, and Cameron) have been playing music since high school. Michael joined about a year ago and we’ve been busting it ever since.
Could you briefly describe the music-making process for your tracks?
It’s always different. I don’t think we tend to use the same formula for each song. That’s a big reason why they all sound different.
Really liked the video. Share with us the concept behind it.
Thank you! It was shot by Ridge Beck. He’s a great videographer we have worked with since we were in high school. We really just wanted to make something that felt like it was constantly changing. Relating to the lyrics.
Which animal would best suit your personality?
Landon = Honey Badger
Cameron = Yorkie
Michael = Ferret
Cade = Lion
Who are your musical icons?
We’re influenced by many different artist because we all tend to listen to something different but I think The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Jeff Buckley are three big influences of ours.
What was the first album you purchased?
Landon: Probably that U2 album that was forcibly downloaded to everyone’s phone in 2014
Cameron: Wayne the Carter III
Cade: Rage Against the Machine
Michael: Never downloaded an album
Which artists are you listening to right now?
It’s usually something different every week but Radiohead has been on repeat.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Tell us why we should be at your next show?
Because you’ll have a great time! Modern rock in an authentic form. Our live shows can get out of hand but in a good way.
What does the rest of 2020 hold for you?
More music. More touring. And meeting more people. We can’t wait to get back on the road.
