Lexie is equally obsessed with so many elements of the arts…Writing, dancing, singing and acting. She channels these multiple aspects of creativity into her music career. Her new track is a frank and open exploration of distrust and betrayal.
She quite literally asks, why Can’t he keep his jeans on? We spoke to Lexie about wearing her heart on her sleeve, her sassy form of pop and why Plan A is the only option.
What inspired you to write your new song?
Haha! Here we go…Most of my songs are based on my personal experiences, this one is no exception.
I pretty much wear my heart on my sleeve, so the story is all there in the lyrics. It’s very cliche but most of my best stuff comes after break ups or when bad things happen, writing songs during these times is like free therapy, it’s the most incredible feeling when you can take your heartbreak and turn it into art, by the end of the process you feel like you’ve healed.
If you could explain your music in three words, what would they be?
Sassy soul pop
What’s been the most exciting moment in your music career so far?
Honestly I think it was the day I released my Debut single Reckless.
I spent so many years tryna figure out who the hell i was, and what kind of artist i wanted to be, so it was the best feelin’ when i finally reached the point of being totally and unapologetically myself! I was so excited to be Releasing music i loved and was proud of, and I just couldn’t wait to share it with everyone.
If you could have a dream collaboration, what would that be?
Eeeek! I’m terrible at making decisions, I can’t choose one! There all quite different too: Bruno Mars, Train, Dolly Parton, Allen Stone…Ohhh, and maybe MIley Cyrus!
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be?
I don’t believe in having a PLAN B, that only distracts you from PLAN A… However, if I have to say something, then maybe A painter or an events planner, something creative for sure, every day has to be different, I can’t deal with routine, I think I might actually be allergic!
