Hi KTG! How are you today?
Hi there! Thank you so much for having me! I am good thank you! Hope you are too in these crazy times!
What’s your new single Matches all about?
Matches is a fun track all about being confident in yourself and letting loose for a night! It is also a comment on the nightlife culture in Ireland and how confident people feel and how that confidence empowers.
Who are your biggest influences?
In ‘normal’ terms my Mam is a huge influence on me because of her amazing work ethic and I would hope to have the same ethic as her! In music I look up to Ryan Tedder and his writing abilities! He’s amazing and a person I would love to even sit with in the studio just to see how he works.
Describe your sound in five words:
Honest
Sassy
Confident
Raw
Catchy
If you could collaborate with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
Ryan Tedder but also Lewis Capaldi because I feel like we would never stop laughing! However, I would have loved to do a dance track with Avicii. He was such an amazing creator!
How have you kept yourself entertained during lockdown?
I run my own music school and am a full time secondary school teacher as well so when school ended for the term I was straight in working on pivoting my business to online lessons. Besides that I took up Spanish and Italian and tried to bring back my level of French because when all this is over I am getting ready to travel and visit more places I have always wanted to go. I think it will be good for inspiration as I fear I’m lacking some through this time! Of course I have been trying to write and create music but I must admit I haven’t been doing as well as I had hoped!
Are there any new Irish artists you can recombined to us?
Where do I start! There are so many amazing artists in Ireland at the moment – anyone from the Beardfire (my label) roster – RUNAH, Martin McDonnell, Moylan, Lauran Beth and then others not on the label Emma Langford and Grianne Fahy – the list is endless!
What are your plans for the rest of 2020?
Create music and get back to the gigs – I miss them so much! There is nothing better than vibing with an audience and a group of people who respect the music – Instagram live is great but nothing will beat the gigging buzz!
Where can we find you online?
Everywhere! Facebook/Twitter/Instagram on ktg_music_ire (although I am most active on Insta)
My official website www.ktgmusic.org
Youtube at ktg_music_ire
And on the Beardfire Music socials!
Any last words?
Just thanks a million for having me and finding time to listen! Lockdown has really been a time where musicians have gained a new found gratitude for people to listen to their music and give them a platform to speak!
