Hi ACRYLIC! How are you today?
Overwhelmed with friends but other than that, alright, thank you. Please introduce yourselves to our readers:
ACRYLIC is Andreas, Ross, Jack, Lewis and Ruairidh. We’re a Glasgow-based alternative-pop band.
What’s your new single ‘I’ve Got Too Many Friends’ all about?
“‘I’ve Got Too Many Friends’ is about feeling as though you’ve found yourself in an ideal situation, with all the pieces falling together, and knowing that you’re still going to mess it up. It’s about a rift developing in a relationship and explores the naive idea that sex will resolve your issues, even though it will, in fact, be a colourless and sad affair and will most likely send you straight to the abyss.”
What sums up being a good friend to you?
Loyalty, Loyalty Loyalty; in the words of Kung-Fu Kenny.
Who are your biggest influences?
The National, Diiv, Interpol, Joy Division
Describe your sound in three words:
Taut, Visceral, Emotive.
What’s the music scene like in Glasgow at the mo? Any new artists you’d recommend?
Glasgow scene is more alive than ever- so many creative people doing great things. Too many bands to recommend but to narrow it down, we love Lylo, Bubbatrees and The Ninth Wave.
You’ve supported the likes of The View, Palace and Demob Happy, which must have been really fun. Any fun backstage stories you can share with us?
Not really to be honest, I think we were just very surprised by how pleasant and down to earth everyone was. There were no huge egos despite the size/success of these bands which was reassuring.
What are your plans for 2019?
We spent a lot of 2018 writing and focussing on our debut release ‘All I Am EP’. 2019 will see a lot more music being released, a lot more touring and some big headline shows in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Stay tuned, announcements incoming…
Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time?
None of us have strong interests in anything other than making music so wouldn’t be surprised if we were writing and playing. I guess our goal is to continue to progress and expand our reach/fanbase. Continuous progression, no matter how small, is all we have ever strived for.
Where can we find you online?
You’ll find us on all social platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram mainly. Follow us, we’re funny.
Any last words?
Cow’s milk is for baby cows. Switch to soy, boy.
