Take a listen to Mark Duggan‘s new track Somewhere To Land. It’s an upbeat alternative rock song with an inspiring message and lots of energy.

Mark Duggan is an Irish musician from Waterford who composes and performs his own songs. He’s praised for his witty lyrics and the unique way he mixes acoustic and electronic music.

The song talks about someone stuck in their own rut and trying to get out of it by connecting with someone else or finding a sense of community. It’s all about breaking through the monotony of everyday life.

Talking about his last single, he said, “It’s about the pushing forward to something better”.

Somewhere To Land is the perfect next single after his recent hit Run Out The Distance. His most popular track yet, it’s an upbeat and honest rock song about achieving more.

His dad gave him an MP3 player when he was just nine and it had songs from The Beatles and Bruce Springsteen – that’s how his journey into music began. He was immediately fascinated by the idea of writing songs, starting with one called A Day in the Life of A Kid, and he began learning how to play the guitar.

He was initially drawn to writing songs, but soon he wanted to capture them as recordings. His dad had a great collection of CDs, and he started exploring them more. He really enjoyed listening to Paul McCartney, Paul Weller, U2, Gorillaz and The Waterboys as well as some local bands in Waterford.

In Maynooth, he developed a strong bond with Dunluvly and co-wrote his song The Road from the EP The Boat. Since then, he has performed together in places such as Whelans, Monroes and the Waterford Winterval Festival.
