Luke Marshall Black’s TELL YOUR LOVER | Deep, Honest, Energetic, Scottish Pop

Scottish songwriter Luke Marshall Black returns and shines with vivid new single Tell Your Lover

Hey Luke! How’s it going?

Hey! I am great thank you.

What’s your new single Tell Your Lover all about?

My new single is a really energetic pop tune about getting out of an unhealthy relationship.  Its about realising that things have gotten bad and I thought an interesting way to phrase that was to say well I don’t want to tell you  because things are so bad but heres some warnings for your new lover.

Describe your sound in five words:

Deep, honest, energetic, Scottish Pop.

Who are your biggest influences as an artist?

I have a bunch but anybody who really dives into their lyrics.  Bon Iver has always been a big one, I like Dermott Kennedy’s lyrics a lot.  But I have to say I am just really into lyrics so it ranges from a lot of hip hop stuff to songwriters to writers like Leonard Cohen, Khalil Gilbran and Pete Doherty.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced in the music industry so far?

Definitely just trying to cut through the noise. There is so much content available to consume just now that finding out where you fit in the industry is tricky.  Particularly when you are doing this independently.  I think the key is to tune into what unique qualities you have and try to be really truthful to them but it is a process and one that takes a while.

What’s your favourite thing about Scotland? The weather.

Any Scottish artists you’d recommend? Yeah there’s loads. I’m friends with some great musicians there. Gerry Cinnamon is really starting to make a bit of a wave down here, I think people are really tuned into him. There’s a great soulful songwriter called Joesef, and I’m friends with a great up and coming band called Bubbatrees.

What are your plans for 2020?

I will be making more music, releasing more music and announcing a few live shows which I cant wait for.

Where can we find you online?

You can find me on all the socials, and stream my new single Tell Your Lover on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon etc…
