Long Tall Jefferson is an indie folk singer hailing from Switzerland. He’s one of the founding members of a collective of musicians called Red Brick Chapel, an industrious, organised bunch who function as something of an indie record label, and pre-COVID as an events agency as well – normally putting on shows for affiliates and friends of friends.
The latest offering to drop on RBC will be Long Tall Jefferson’s full length called Cloud Folk, a tongue-in-cheek exploration of the intersections between indie folk and cloud hop / trap, currently scheduled for the 20th of November.
Last Friday, the artist gave us another sneak-peek of what we are in store for, and released a new single, a hyper-catchy, hyper-bouncy, Talking Heads-y little sing-along ditty titled (I’m In Love With An) Astronaut.
Like many of the artist’s previous songs, this one, too, deals with a love possibly, maybe partially or totally unrequited. It’s light-hearted, fun and the perfect, albeit momentary, escape from the gravity of this so-called reality. Think of it as something of a whippet, because it will hit you hard, maybe knock you out, even, and leave you lightheaded and smiling like a moron in love.
