It’s a Beautiful Piece of Electronic Orchestral

Based in Liverpool and creating some of the most stunning and affecting electronic and orchestral music, Tom Ashbrook has just dropped his full album Solitudes. A project written during a national lockdown, it’s a project that’s full of nuance and evocative moments, solo piano-based pieces but also some gorgeous electronic compositions, one of which is the uplifting new single We Begin.
Classically trained on piano from the age of 5, Tom Ashbrook grew up with an obsession with the emotion and songwriting mystique in film soundtracks. He took these techniques into his own songwriting and later, developed a love for synthesis and contemporary music production, the combination of which, has now formed the basis of his stunning and eclectic catalog.
On the new track, Ashbrook states:
“This arrangement is really special to me and brings back lots of memories of the time I spent in Australia. It’s all about a journey, musically and emotionally. Since I had the ideas for the melody, the track has been through so many changes and forms that coincide with its meaning; new beginnings and changes. I wanted to create this feeling of enduring positivity by moving a subtly changing ostinato that would morph over time and build to create the feeling of change and adaptation. It’s almost like the grand finale to the album and a personal thank you to everyone who has helped me through this incredible journey.”
