Leon O’Leary unveils new single ‘Got This Love For You’ featuring Gyuri Baek

"I thought blending my Irish and English influences with Gyuri’s Korean would make for a really interesting feel"

Indie-folk artist from Suffolk, Leon O’Leary, releases his new single Got This Love For You, with guest vocals by Gyuri Baek. This song serves as an introduction to his highly anticipated debut EP Pretend (To Be Saviours), marking a fresh phase in his career that has already seen him enchanting listeners throughout the UK.

The single starts with a rhythmical, echo-laden guitar, building up with electronic bass and deep tom-heavy drums towards a soaring chorus that injects a sense of bliss into the song, all while highlighting O’Leary’s fervent lead vocals.

The inclusion of Gyuri Baek in the second verse adds a compelling dynamic to the song, with her ethereal Korean vocals weaving through the melody, leading to a powerful harmony in the chorus.

Discussing the single, Leon shares: “I first started coming up with the lyrics for the song whilst staying with my girlfriend in Manchester, after opening up to her about my relationship anxiety and the occasional paranoia/trust issues I was dealing with – which was weighing me down. So, I wanted to write a song about it. I went back home and started messing with a distorted, delay saturated drum loop using Logic’s stock drums and began coming up with a guitar riff. I then got in touch with Gyuri who was introduced to me by my girlfriend as a friend and after hearing some of her music I instantly wanted to collab with her. I thought blending my Irish and English influences with Gyuri’s Korean would make for a really interesting feel. One night we were all talking about the song’s meaning and how Gyuri resonated with it. She began writing her part in Korean and recorded her vocals in London with the rest being finished here at home in my bedroom.”
