Having made a name for himself in the middle of the last decade as the frontman for promising indie-rock outfit The Mispers, singer and producer Jack Scott has now returned with his latest project LEAP, alongside the unveiling of his debut single N.L.T.D.
With his usual indie swagger now mixed up in a blended cocktail of hip-hop beats and electronic flair, this new release looks to see him rebranded in a whole new light. So with things just getting started for him again, we caught up with Jack to find out more about his ambitions and what he has in sort for us over the coming months.
‘N.L.T.D.’ is the first single from your new project LEAP. Can you tell what kind of direction you are looking to adopt these days?
Spent the last few years listening to a lot of hip-hop and more urban music like 21 Pilots/Alan Rayman. Still the same old indie boy at heart but you can expect to hear some heavy beats with a sprinkle of that sweet Rock N Roll.
And what was the intention behind ‘N.L.T.D.’? What kind of statement were you looking to make with this debut?
N.L.T.D (standing for nothing left to do) is a song I wrote going through some of my most turbulent times struggling with mental health. It’s a testament to those closest. That special someone who is always willing to ride the wave with you, no matter how hard it comes crashing down. Seems like the perfect way to introduce people to the body of music.
What can we expect from you in the near future? Are you planning an EP or album release anytime soon?
Got a bag full of bangers leading up to a full E.P release in the late spring. Can’t bloomin’ wait! Firstly, N.L.T.D will be going live to Spotify, Apple Music on 20/2/20.
Aside from releases, what are your plans for 2020? Any live shows we should keep an eye out for?
Most certainly, we will be holding a LEAP launch party at OMEARA London on Saturday 29/02/20. Supported by the brilliant Bamily and Sunkin and a big ole after party should be a top night!
And finally, what is the dream for LEAP? Where are you hoping to see yourself this time next year?
Performing has always my favourite part of the job. You can’t beat that feeling. So ideally, touring globally …with an array of spectacular garments to wear if at all possible!
LEAP’s debut single N.L.T.D. will be available to stream on all streaming services from the 20th February, but you can now watch the new video for it below. Keep up to date with Jack’s new project at: instagram.com/leap_band/
