LAY / BYE, a dynamic trio from Cambridge, is shaking up the indie music scene with their debut release, ACTIVE! via Clean Records. Comprised of singer James McGonigle, guitarist Christy Hoyles, and drummer Alex Brown, the band blends catchy riffs, powerful vocals, and heartfelt lyrics to create a fresh, engaging, and captivating sound that seamlessly fuses elements of rock and pop.

ACTIVE! is the first single from a four-song campaign that highlights LAY / BYE’s profound connection with listeners. James McGonigle’s emotive delivery breathes life into the poignant lyrics, making ACTIVE! a relatable anthem for navigating the highs and lows of human experience.

The track features blistering guitar riffs, dynamic rhythm changes, and powerful vocals, creating an immersive, unfiltered listening experience. It delves into themes of egotistical friendships, love, loss, and the fallout of losing someone close. Mastered by Grammy-nominated Robin Schmidt (The 1975, Sam Fender, Nothing But Thieves) and mixed by emerging engineer Matt Turner of Fifths Studio, ACTIVE! combines a polished yet fresh sound, setting a new trend with explosive vigor.
