Singapore based alt-folk pop artist KHAi returns with third single called Victoria and charming accompanying video – directed by Khomthong Rungsawang – shot in Bangkok, Thailand…“At some point in our lives, we are faced with the grim reality of unrequited love.”
What would you say is the most common theme to all of your songs?
I’d say the recurring theme in my songs for this EP is unrequited love. Love has been responsible for all the good and bad things that happen in my life. But more than anything, this EP highlights love from my perspective and how I choose to deal with a failed romantic relationship.
What has been the most memorable moment of your career so far?
As of right now, I’d say the most memorable one would be when I had a listener of mine come up to me after a gig telling me that she flew over from Indonesia to watch me here in Singapore. It’s really heartwarming to know that my music could have such an impact on people. I know I’m a pretty new artist and I have a lot more ahead of me, but I really value these moments
What dreams or ambitions do you want to achieve at some point?
At some point, I’d love to be a touring artist. I mean, I could do that right now. But at the stage I’m at with my career, the right move for me would be to gain traction with my music first before thinking about touring. But definitely, when I’ve solidified my stance as an artist, I’d be looking to tour and play big festivals haha.
And finally, where do you see yourself in five years time?
In five years, I think I would have a lot of my music out in the world by then. Perhaps a few more EPs and maybe a full-length? I’m so excited because my debut EP is really just the beginning. I have a lot of new music in the bag waiting to be released so keep a look out!
