The new 11-track album blends guitar-driven indie rock, atmospheric Americana and emotionally direct songwriting.
Joe Osgood & The Fathers of Light release their new album, Songs From The Sun. Led by singer-songwriter Joe Osgood, the record moves between expansive rock anthems, atmospheric reflections and melodic ballads.
Its rotating line-up includes founding guitarist Graham Prior, bassist Sam Bunting and drummers Mantu and Dean McCormick.
Opening track All You Good People emerged spontaneously during a ten-minute rehearsal, while live favourite Never Believers has been rebuilt as a full-band recording. Other highlights include the cinematic Moonlight, the driving Electric Rooms and an energetic reinterpretation of Empire of the Sun’s We Are The People.
The album was recorded and mixed by George Murphy at Eastcote Studios, with additional mixing by Ruadhri Cushnan on Moonlight and Make You Dance. Jamie Brown handled mastering.
That combination of multiple musicians, studios and mixing perspectives gives the record its shifting scale; moving from intimate songwriting to a wide, stadium-ready finish on closing track Looking Through The Window.
Having previously supported artists including Badly Drawn Boy and The Faces, Osgood channels that live experience into a record that retains the energy of a band performing together.
