19 years old,Indonesian Tik Tok star/singer Jharna Bhagwani shares her impressive dark-pop debut single Tell Me, which she created with Eka Gustiwana from EDM group ‘Weird Genius’ and she answers our QFQs.
What was the first album you bought?
The first album was “The Best Damn Thing” -Avril Lavigne
Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations and why?
My musical inspiration comes from artists such as Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Melanie Martinez, Madison Beer, Ic3Peak and much more. I tend to find a lot of new artists as well from time to time because it drives a lot of new ideas.
What are some non-musical inspirations that motivate your music?
For my song lyrics, I mostly tend to get inspiration from personal experiences and stories that I’ve been told. I also really enjoy diving into new realms and playing different characters while writing. Showing conflicting perspectives as I play a unique alter ego each time.
Tell us about your single ’Tell Me’?
The journey of finding oneself After being restrained by a person with power. (Ex: Boss, Parental figures, lover, teacher and etc) Betrayal, Confusion and Loss of Trust due to a Toxic Lover and their Controlling Behaviour As a way to find answers she constantly questions everything she blindly believed in before. it’s about the heartbreak and pain someone goes through as reality starts kicking in and the once “sugarcoated” relationship turns sour and dreadful.
What have you got lined up for the rest of the year (2021)?
This has been such an amazing journey so far and I have so many new ideas coming up for the rest of the year. That I am beyond excited to share!
