Earlier this year, French electronic composer and producer Jean-Michel Jarre created a virtual reality performance like no other, transporting viewers to the Notre-Dame cathedral in order to combine the aesthetic of the historic monument with the audio of a real-life studio performance. Now he’s back to announce a physical release of the innovative experience, featuring tracks from the Grammy-nominated, Electronica, as well as some reimagined versions of his timeless classics.

Incorporating a vinyl print, CD, and Blu-ray box set, the full concert will be available alongside sneak peeks at new behind-the-scenes footage, finished off with a masterclass from Jarre himself on how he set the whole event up. Digital recordings of the live performances can also be found of tracks such as HerbalizerZero Gravity, and Oxygene 19, which all featured at the pioneering concert and are now being made available to listen in binaural audio while at home.

Speaking of how the pandemic influenced the concert, Jean-Michel said that “The world was in lockdown, we were all living in isolation, confined to our homes which became the central hub of our lives and the only space we had to maintain some form of normality. Where work, family, love, leisure and play were all contained inside those four walls. We shared and interacted with the ‘outside’ world via our screens. As a musician, performer and creator of concert events, like all my peers, I needed to create, to perform and share, that’s the only vocation I know…”

With the VR performance reaching 75 million viewers across the globe, Jean-Michel Jarre has found staggering success through his unique blend of new-age technology and modern electronic musical styles. With an incredible 21 albums under the producer’s belt, amassing over 85 million sales, it’s no surprise that the boundaries of music will continue to be pushed.
