Irish Songwriter ALAN FINAN Shares THE DRIVE

The Enigmatic Songwriter Explores the Effect of Tragedy on Small Communities.

Irish songwriter, now based in London Alan Finan returns this Spring with his most affecting work to date The Drive. It’s a haunting & emotive track that’s made only more emotive after hearing the meaning behind the lyrics. Inspired by a car accident that claimed the lives of seven people, after watching the world cup final in 2010.

Growing up in Ballyshannon, a town famous for its musical heritage, Alan soon found himself passing through stages of traditional Irish Folk Music, which he still uses in his music to date. He’s now found inspiration from modern folk artists such as Nick Mulvey and Bon Iver, to shape his unique songwriter style.

The new single The Drive, perfectly showcases his talent. It’s a track full of subtle guitar nuances, set to a backdrop of a four to the floor rhythm. On the new single, Finan states: The Drive reflects tragedy in community , how one accident remains the burden of so many, how we move ourselves knowingly towards ruin when morality is there, opposite. Inspiration came in light of a visit to a town in rural Ireland affected by a car accident that changed the lives of so many families.”
