Hi Howard! How are you today?

I’m a bit sick actually. in bed doing this!

Please tell our readers what services your company The Local provides?

We put on shows and tours for new and established acts.

Can you tell us what Liverpool Sound City is all about?

It’s a massive event in Liverpool and we’re just a small part of it. It’s been going about ten years and it a major event in the showcase calendar.

How were you offered the opportunity to host a stage at festival?

I asked if we could do it, as we had done it before, and they said yes!

What can you tell us about the the artists that are performing at your stage?

They’re all excellent. Somewhat different. I’ll explain: Sean Christopher – new on Dumont Dumont, the label that brought us Jose Gonzales and Charlie Cunningham. Very much in that ball park. Very good songs played on acoustic guitar

Samana – recent signings to Fat Cat – reminiscent of Brightblack Morning Light. Very dreamy hippie folk reminding me of west coast Americana.

Hawk – Brilliant alt. power trio fusing slow dive and Radiohead and PJ Harvey. If that’s possible.

Maria Kelly – Beautiful songs from excellent Irish singer songwriter. Future Superstar.

Mathilda Homer – Super young and amazing voiced. Could be anything from acoustic singer songwriter to RnB with keys.

Nathan Harrison – Reminds me of The bloke from the Decemberists. Good songs.

A mixture of dreamy folksters and proggy indie stuff. Dead dead good!

What’s your favourite thing about visiting Liverpool?

I really love the city every time I visit. It has a positive energy and the people are great.

When and where can we catch The Local’s artists at Liverpool Sound City?

We’ll be at Birdies Bar from 2-5 on Sat 5 May.

What can festival goers expect from your stage and artists?

As above. And hopefully some drinks!

Other than The Local’s artists, who are you looking forward to seeing at Liverpool Sound City?

The festival runs over the weekend of the 5th and 6th May and The Local’s acts join a stellar festival line-up, which includes bands like Peace, Wye Oak and Sunset Sons.
