Releasing his first track, Lazarus, of his forthcoming EP, burgeoning multi-instrumentalist and artist House of EL has made quite the musical statement and one that we couldn’t not write about.
Lazarus leads in purpose, spearheaded by House of EL’s distinctive vocals, bold yet understated, whilst being carried on bed of tightly woven production provided by Karma Kid.
Speaking on the track, House of EL explains: “It all started from a weird orchestral sample I created at uni ages ago in a music pack I made for myself and then karma kid (who I worked with on this EP) helped me flip it. Lazarus is a narrative lyrical abstraction, overcoming adversity and touches on ideas of humanity and hope, and is the title track of the EP”
Moving into the video, House of EL maintains his majestic aurora as he stands alone, transcending the room and transforming the vast, barren space into a captivating backdrop for his first music of 2020.
Originally a jazz trumpeter, House of EL furthered his musicality as he moved into producing and songwriting, quickly establishing his credibility working with artists such as Plan B, Paloma Faith and Chase and Status before emerging with his own original material. Aside from his own artist project, House of EL is an accomplished arranger and has lent his skill to many luminaries in the world of popular music over the years.
We’re very excited to see what is to come of this artist…
