The London 3-Piece Embody Full on 70’s Soul on New Single

By Vasco Dega

Multi-talented and prolific songwriters Ghosts of Our Former Selves return with their smoothest, most heartfelt work to date in the form of If That’s Love – A powerful, 70’s style soul gem that puts us firmly in mind of Sam Cooke or Marvin Gaye, it’s a beautifully simple, yet effective piece of songwriting from a London trio with incredible potential.

Drawing on years of musical heritage, each band member brings their own unique and varied musical experience to the table. Lead singer Theo Brehony sang and co-wrote a world-wide Freestylers hit Push Up, has supported Beyonce on tour and counts Elton John as a fan of his vocals. Producer Fred Ala, formerly signed to Sony, has worked with multiple studio legends including Gus Dudgeon (Elton John, Bowie) and Robin Miller (Sade), and is a master hip hop beats maker.

It’s these years of musical heritage you can hear in the new single – The precursor to a new album due for release in the New Year, it’s a lush and heartwarming soul gem.

If That’s Love is a song about time running out in a relationship. All the deals you try to make, all the promises, the doubts. It was written at a turning point with someone when you are hanging on by your fingertips saying, the most valuable thing I have is my time and I’m here, giving it to you.
