Set to enchant the stage at the forthcoming Pitchfork Festival in Berlin this November, Ghostly Kisses, the international sensation celebrated for her 2022 debut album Heaven, Wait, returns with a daring and impactful musical evolution encapsulated in the magnetic track, Golden Eyes.

Golden Eyes sees Ghostly Kisses blending spirited melodies with a touch of wistful nostalgia, woven seamlessly into the rhythmic tapestry of UK Garage drum beats. Collaborating with George Fitzgerald and Louis-Étienne Santais on production, this fresh single unfurls a narrative of romantic awakening within the intricate dynamics of friendship. It stands tall, buoyed by Ghostly Kisses‘ self-awareness, strength, and songwriting prowess—a vessel for profound expression.

With spellbinding vocals and ingenious wordplay, Golden Eyes boasts an infectious hook that lingers, offering more than just a song—it’s a therapeutic experience waiting to be explored.

Ghostly Kisses herself explains, Golden Eyes is about being in love with your best friend and how gauche it feels to finally admit it. The lyrics were inspired by a revelation from a fan we met on tour, about how hard and vertiginous it can be to express our true feelings to someone that we really love. The verses are intimate, almost like revealing the secret, and then the music opens in the choruses, uplifting the song with light and catchy melodies.”

Born Margaux Sauvé, the bonafide pop-star hails from a musical family in Quebec. Her musical journey began with the violin, a passion ignited early on. While briefly attending the Conservatoire in Quebec, she found it lacking the element of fun and chose to carve her own musical path.

Singing became a part of her repertoire later on, challenging the notion that being a singer required a powerful voice, a stark contrast to her quiet and introspective nature. The pop music of Quebec didn’t quite resonate with her, but the spark of creativity was kindled during her psychology studies at university, compelling her to venture into songwriting.

Margaux‘s musical creation started during a challenging period in a toxic relationship, influencing her early music with a blend of sorrowful and exploratory themes. Over time, she discovered the depth of her instinctive songwriting and the emotions embedded in her songs.

Following the release of captivating French singles during the summer, Golden Eyes stands as Ghostly Kisses’ first English release in a meticulously planned series of musical offerings scheduled to unfold throughout 2023 and 2024.

Golden Eyes stands as evidence of Ghostly Kisses‘ artistic evolution, assuring fans worldwide of a captivating journey as she intricately weaves her musical tapestry.
