FM PRESENTS: LAO RA

‘Jesus Made Me Bad’ is the smart Tropical-pop gem from songstress Lao Ra. Raised in the Colombian capital of Bogota – one of the most violent cities in the world – in the ‘90s, Lao Ra’s explains her interesting debut track, like this: “‘Jesus Made Me Bad’ is about not wanting to give explanation for your actions, because we were made this way and can’t help it.”

Lao Ra and her brothers, found welcome distraction from the war on drugs (in inner-city Bogota) via the sheltered escapism of MTV…Sparking Lao Ra to start writing songs at the age of twelve. She finished school and studied at a music college in Colombia, working for a fire alarm company and in a football pub to make ends meet (there’s a Real Madrid tattoo on her foot, so she fitted right in)…
