Brazilian born Eric Taylor Escudero’s debut album, ‘We Were Young And It Was Morning’, is the perfect accompaniment to the cold winter months…
To get a taste of his radiant and hankering delivering, here’s ‘The Uncountable Colours Of The Sky’, available as a free download.
Hey Eric! How are you today?
Hi! I’m great!
What’s your free track ‘The Uncountable Colours of The Sky’ all about?
It’s about being moved by nature’s colours and landscapes, and the greatness contained in the details of everyday life.
What’s the music scene like in Brazil?
There’s little space for independent artists to perform. People are really used to seeing cover bands, so only a few venues in the biggest cities allow indie bands/songwriters to perform. This is not very good for Brazilian music, since it won’t allow talents to blossom. However, there are a few good musicians writing great music.
What’s the theme behind your album ‘We Were Young and It Was Morning’?
‘We Were Young and It Was Morning’ is a nostalgic work about the passing of time and life in the big cities. It wasn’t planned, it just happened. I only realised there was a theme after putting the songs together.
Describe your sound in five words:
Honest, deep, meaningful, wistful music.
Where do you see yourself in ten years time?
I hope to have toured the UK and North America a few times and to have released great music.
If you could collaborate with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
Paul McCartney! He wrote some of the best songs of all time and seems like a really nice guy.
What’s your favourite thing about the UK?
The music, obviously, but I really like British literature. Also, people are usually very nice.
Who are your biggest influences?
Well, the first record I ever bought was Oasis’ ‘Be Here Now’. I’ve always listened to the Beatles since I was a kid. Among the most recent ones, I really like Roddy Woomble’s solo work, Conor Oberst, Fionn Regan, etc.
Any finally, what can we expect from Eric Taylor Escudero in 2016?
For now, I plan to release a few official and live videos and play as many concerts as I can.
