Following the release of her joyous new single Just For One Day, which arrived just at the right time given everything going on in the world right now, the incredible British singer/songwriter Kelli-Leigh has revealed the accompanying visuals, which we are delighted to be premiering here at FM.
Written about the need to escape the world and take some time out from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Just For One Day is packed full of everything you need to feel uplifted amongst these testing times. Kelli-Leigh’s infamous vocals, known for featuring on worldwide hits by the likes of Duke Dumont & Jax Jones, James Hype and Second City, elegantly soar across the track as the spacious drums and bouncing synths carry you along in the feel-good, summer ready anthem. Encapsulating the essence of a truly DIY artist, the music video was shot by Kelli-Leigh’s film student sister Sarah-Louise Davila and edited by Kelli-Leigh herself.
“We filmed the shots in South London – explains Kelli-Leigh – Where I grew up and my new home so locations wise it’s very personal to me and part of my journey”
Kelli-Leigh reveals: “I was feeling overwhelmed and low from a run of sessions, and felt that I had been neglecting my own artist creativity and focus. The morning of the session I had gone to the completely wrong studio in the wrong part of London and made myself 2 hours late. I’m a bit of a workaholic and sometimes I tend to go too far, so ultimately I could’ve quit and gone home, but I ended up writing this song in an easy flow, a stream of consciousness which just came to me and explained how I was feeling.”
“I wanted to write something that explains how sometimes you just need to take some time out, reset yourself to build your energy, and not speak to anyone…Little did I know when it came to the release, the world would also be self isolating. Now when I watch the video back, it feels slightly post-apocalyptic.”
