FM PREMIERE: IT MAN unleash video for debut track ‘White Heat’

"It probes the intricacies of desire and self-image under late capitalism"

IT MAN is a new band formed from the ashes of Bristol’s incredible indie-punk group The Jacques. The brand-new outfit comprising three long-time Jacques members and Dexter Dougan on the bass, shared the aptly engaging video for White Heat, out now on the band’s in-house label, SORE RECORDS.

With Dexter Dougan joining on the bass, these talented musicians have gained a new source of motivation and passion, which is evident in their debut single White Heat. A funny look into a young couple’s fantasies about explosives, gambling and being Ray Liotta.

“I’m trying, I’m trying not to think about it / cause its only there when I think about it”, band’s frontman O’Brien sings while the guitars take you to a beach in the tropics – this is great!

White Heat is a sneaky recognition of the attraction and glamour of modern life that cannot hide the sense of stress and anxiety that is always present.

“While the song is aesthetically playful – explains O’Brien – it probes the intricacies of desire and self-image under late capitalism, albeit with its tongue firmly in its cheek”.

Gordon Raphael, the iconic producer from The Strokes, was behind the recording of ‘White Heat’, Dan Swift, the music producer giant, was responsible for the production and mixing of this!

IT MAN shared a touching note on their social media before dropping their first single White Heat. The post read: “After much thought and consideration, we have decided that we will no longer perform or release music as The Jacques. Since the formation of the band 8 years ago, our line-up has changed, sometimes amicably but also in ways beyond our control. Four years ago, we lost our best friend and bassist Will. We had just completed our debut album ‘The Four Five Three’ after spending our early 20s living and touring together. These are precious memories of ours and we are grateful for all of the friendship, support and love we have received over the years. We are currently finishing an album that we feel marks a departure from our previous musical direction. It is for that reason that we have agreed to be known by a different name moving forward. Thank you all for your continued support. Love, Finn, Elliot, Harry & Dexter a.k.a It Man”
