FM premiere | GRIP TIGHT ‘Get to Know (feat. KBY)’ video

GRIP TIGHT, the project created by English-born, Berlin-based producer/vocalist Benjamin Gregory, premieres on FM a rather intriguing video – by Guy Oliver – for broken ballad ‘Get to Know (feat. KBY)’, out on Fri (4th) on Musclemilk. The track is a darkly engaging, slow-tempo electropop number, focusing on questions left unanswered, about a romance struggling to define itself…

GRIP TIGHT explains…”The video is a new piece from artist Guy Oliver…Oliver’s work addresses notions of identity, masculinity, comedy and tragedy. The video’s fragmented style mirrors the song’s use of voice manipulation and fractured beats to create something discordant yet delicate.”

Hello Benjamin! How are you today?

Pretty good, how are you?

Im feeling grand. Thanks! First up…why did you call your project GRIP TIGHT? Any intriguing story behind it? 🙂

It’s about holding on to the things you love and also a fear of total annihilation.

You return with broken ballad ‘Get to Know’…Featuring KBY. Ok can you reveal us the inspirations and vibes for the track?

The song is a tale of communication adrift, of questions left unanswered, of a romance struggling to define itself.

And the b-side ‘Dive In’?

‘Dive In’ explores themes of a jealous mind. It’s a song I’ve opened the last few live shows with and it’s set to my favourite walking pace (115BPM)
