The accompanying music video, a visual delight directed by the skilled CJ Pixels, adds an extra layer of depth to the powerful narrative woven into the beats.

Boasting a career that spans over a decade, Blinky Bill has solidified himself as a multitalented producer, artist, and DJ of immense influence. His role as a driving force behind the electronic music and arts collective Just A Band is only one facet of his expansive repertoire, having contributed significantly to three albums. As a solo artist, Blinky Bill has already left an indelible mark with two critically acclaimed albums, We Cut Keys While You Wait and Everyone’s Just Winging It And Other Fly Tales. Anticipation is building for his upcoming album, We Cut Keys 2, slated for release at the top of the next year.

Blinky Bill’s latest gem, Dracula, serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to creating music that provokes thought. Explaining the essence of the track, Blinky Bill reveals, “‘Dracula’ is about standing up for yourself and speaking up for others in need of a voice.” The song’s poignant lyrics, coupled with energetic beats, form a rallying cry for empowerment and change.

Collaboration is at the heart of Blinky Bill’s creative journey, evident in his partnerships with notable artists like Nneka, Goldlink, Sampa The Great, Childish Gambino, and Chance The Rapper, to name a few. His versatility shines on renowned stages worldwide, from the buzzing energy of SummerStage NYC in 2019 to the intellectual allure of TED 22 in Vancouver, the eclectic vibes of Afropunk in South Africa, and the iconic Paleo Festival.

The genesis of Dracula is a serendipitous tale, a moment of musical magic in the studio with collaborator Dillie. Blinky Bill stumbled upon a sample hook that resonated deeply, sparking a need to address the frustrations and challenges facing the world today. In his own words, Blinky Bill reflects on the song’s origins, “It felt like a song that made me want to open up and talk about my frustration, which I think is indicative of other people’s frustrations on the state of the world right now. There’s a lot of feelgood music when many people aren’t feeling good. Reminded me of how Bob Marley used to talk about so many things going on around the world, happy and sad.”

With Dracula‘s dynamic sound and meaningful lyrics, Blinky Bill once again proves that music has the power to inspire change and spark conversations. This is an anthem for those who refuse to be silent, a rallying call for a world that needs a voice.
