Alluring singer-songwriter Keeana Kee’s presents, Ride With Me, a slice of her sensual & nocturnal R&B offering with strong dancehall and afro-swing vibes.
Hi Keeana! Thanks for taking the time to chat with us. How are you doing?
Hey guys, it’s my pleasure! I’m doing well and I hope that you’re staying healthy and safe!
Who are some of your biggest musical and non-musical inspirations and why?
I was inspired by so many great artists, mostly from the old days. My biggest musical inspirations are Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey in their early years. Their music is what inspired me to become a singer, what kept me moving, and even still pushes me to keep improving and working hard on achieving my goals. I’ve never heard music that could be deeper or more touching. The performances were so outstanding, emotional and motivating. I could almost feel like I’m there with them, reliving the moments. Another artist that has been inspiring me a lot is the queen Beyonce. She is just a beast on the stage. I love her! Then Sia came around and I have absolutely fallen in love with her music and voice.
What are you thinking right now?
I’m actually feeling nostalgic about the times when I was watching Whitney Houston’s live performances and being absolutely mesmerized by her.
What was the first album you bought?
Hmm…That’s a very interesting question. I don’t really remember, coz growing up in Latvia, we didn’t really have much access to Western music, but I think it was a mix of hit songs by Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Britney Spears and more haha. It was awesome!
Tell us everything we should know about your latest release, ‘Ride With Me’
Ride with Me is a love song. It is projecting that moment in our lives when we are so excited and so ready for a change and for new beginnings. That moment when you feel like you have found your soulmate, that one person who you would like to take things further with – make a proposal, move in together, get married. You can feel the energy and excitement in the chorus, which is like a proposal itself: “I wanna see you ride with me. Oh, can you move in?”. I wish for someone to use this song one day to let their partner know that they are ready for a new step in their relationship.
In the first verse, I’m singing about how I understand that it’s very important for me to have somebody to share my life with. “I feel no regrets if I die tomorrow. I traveled the world, now I can’t go solo. I’m looking for you, you’re looking for me, from my happiness you hold the key”. I’ve been on my own, I did many things, now I am ready to tie the knot.
Describe your music in 5 words.
Exotic. Heat. Love. Emotions. Soul.
Do you have any exciting plans to share with us for your music in 2021?
There were huge changes for all of us in the past year, but I hope we are all trying to stay positive and focus on the good things. I am focusing on releasing the visuals for my songs and of course I will be releasing a new single shortly. And I can’t wait for the live performances to start again so I can see you all in person! xox
