FELUKAH Shares The Chilled Hip-Hop Jam WHAT SHE DOES

Opening with the faded crackles of a VHS tape before a pounding bass beat and peppered percussion capture your attention, the rhythm erupts into an irresistible groove that is hazy and slick. Blending Arabic and Western influences in her breathtaking new banger, neo-soul sensation Felukah is a vision on What She Does. Opening with the faded crackles of a VHS tape before a pounding bass beat and peppered percussion capture your attention, the rhythm erupts into an irresistible groove that is hazy and slick. The hypnotic hooks and hip-hop swagger are a fresh take for the Cairo artist, and she continues to surprise with every offering she brings to the table.

The track, produced by Mostafa Zaghloul and Isaac Sleator, is described as “an ode to boss women everywhere”, with the video depicting black/brown female entrepreneurs and artists in New York City, making for a beautiful visual accompaniment to the empowering lyrics.

Felukah’s cultural heritage is an aspect central to her craft, often switching between Arabic and English and marrying her roots in a fashion that is nothing short of enthralling. Having already garnered attention for her previous full-length releases, ‘Citadel’ and ‘Dream 23’, she has also featured in Vogue Arabia, and been pipped as ‘the rapper inspiring a new wave of Egyptian women’ by Azeema Magazine.

Marking the beginning of an exciting year for Felukah, What She Does looks set to be one of the summer’s biggest breakthroughs.
