FAME Recommends: Delays – ‘Star Tiger, Star Ariel’

Perhaps best known for their track “Long Time Coming” from their well-received 2004 debut, Faded Seaside Glamour, English indie-pop outfit Delays hasn’t since seen quite the success it had with Faded Seaside Glamour over the course of three full lengths and a live album.

Having jumped ship from Rough Trade to Polydor, Delays release its fourth proper album, Star Tiger, Star Ariel, on Lookout Mountain Records, with the single “Unsung” preceding the release.
Delays release their fourth album ‘Star Tiger, Star Ariel’ on 21st June 2010, through Lookout Mountain Records, preceded by the debut single ‘Unsung’ out now.

British indie rock band Delays debut album ‘Faded Seaside Glamour’ was released on Rough Trade Records in 2004, and became one of the most critically acclaimed records of that year.

Second album ‘You See Colours’ came out in 2006, and saw Delays firmly established on the British music scene.
‘Everything’s The Rush’, released through Fiction Records in 2008, took the bands sound in a grander, more cinematic direction, uniting them with legendary producer Youth.

Determined to strip their sound back, the band found inspiration in their hometown of Southampton and it’s melancholic history. Written as a soundtrack to late night drives through the New Forest and sunrise at the docks, ‘Star Tiger Star Ariel’ truly reflects the bands depth, ambition and integrity.

Brothers Greg and Aaron Gilbert, alongside Colin Fox on bass guitar and Rowly on drums, recorded the album at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth (Queen, Stone Roses) with Duncan Lewis who produced their first hit album.

Shining return of an underrated but great band! One of the best albums of this year.
