NIKKI W nikki w116 year-old Canadian artist Nikki’s full length EP ‘Sad Generation’ (produced by Gavin Brow) is out now. Nikki describes her music as “pop music with cuts, tattoos, and honesty.” She speaks on behalf of “gypsies, wallflowers, and those without a voice” about love, doubt, sex, self-harm, and alienation…’Transparent Hands’ is her impressive and mature debut single.

NINAnina1‘Dark Rider’ is the hypnotic and beautiful tune, lifted from NINA’s EP ‘My Mistake’, out now via Aztec Record. On her lyrics infused by historical Prussian and Baltic influences such as fairytales and folklore NINA (London based but originally from Berlin) reveals: “I’ve always been very spiritual, even as a child. I never belonged to a certain society, religion or belief. “I feel as though I must persevere on my own terms in order to be free”.

KALEIDAKALEIDA1 (1)KALEIDA (one of 2014 year’s hottest unsigned acts) are London-based electronic duo Christina Wood (vocals) and Cicely Goulder (keys & production). ‘Think’ has just been chosen to feature in Keanu Reeves’s latest film John Wick, which will be released in late 2014 and the duo are booked to play a series of festival dates this summer – all this before the release of their debut EP, which is due out in the autumn.

MERCUTIOMercutioMercutio are a four piece Rock band based in London. Taking influence from Radiohead, Muse and Porcupine Tree, the guys wrote, recorded and toured together for several years in various bands before forming Mercutio in June 2011. The band earned their spurs the old way, gigging on the underground and alternative music scene and playing rock venues throughout the UK and across Europe. Mercutio recorded their debut album at Assault and Battery Studios, London with multi award winning producer Andy Wright (Jeff Beck, Simple Minds). ‘Back to Nowhere’ is mixed by 2014 Brit Award winner Alan Moulder (Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters and The Killers). The band are signed to Independent label Mazepa Records run by co-composer and co-producer Gianluca Cucchiara, and backed by film producer Giovanna Romagnoli (Academy Award winner for Nuovo Cinema Paradiso).

OSLO PARKSoslo parksBrighton-based songwriting and production duo Oslo Parks’ (Rob & Ian) debut single ‘Twin’ (out now via X Novo), its a slice of modern pop, a perfect mix of the vintage with the new. In their own words, their fresh pop sound is “layered vocals over a mixture of live and electronic instrumentation – pop writing in an alternative setting…”

TOTEMtotem‘Chaseme’ is the the intriguing track by enigmatic singer-songwriter, producer TOTEM, who has gotten an array of great reactions on the release of his demos starting last fall, recently wrapped up the first of a new round of fresh and melodious material.

DAMEHTDAMEHT4‘Girl Jeans’ by New York City-based trio DAMEHT – Rivington Starchild (vocals), Lucas Garzoli (guitar), Roman Lewis (drums) – its a slice of fresh power pop combined with some latin-influenced post-punk vibe and…All American style-tight jeans and leather jackets. Formed in New York City in 2012 by Rivington Starchild (vocals), Lucas Garzoli (guitar), and Roman Lewis (drums), the group’s music is a catchy blend of latin-influenced post-punk, electro, no wave, and power pop. DAMEHT is known for their high intensity and visually stimulating live performances complemented by the group’s all American style-tight jeans and leather jackets.

HUNTER AS A HORSE HUNTER AS A HORSEExciting duo Hunter As a Horse – Mia Van Wyk, & Paul Gala – draw inspiration from sources as diverse as astral travel, shamanism, psychedelia and the macabre, as well as from an eclectic collectanea including Stephen King, Nina Simone, Chopin, Clive Barker, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash and Jan Bartell’s ‘Spindrift’. They live in Richmond upon Thames next to the river and the trees, composing music, learning to astral travel and dreaming up ways to communicate with the other side…”Always greet a ghost with a handkerchief, otherwise it will leave a black mark on your hand.”

ALEXANDER WILDWOOD Alexander WildwoodNew Zealand-born multi-instrumentalist and vocalist/songwriter Alexander Wildwood, grew up on a yacht, sailing around the world with his family, to a soundtrack by Neil Young and The Beach Boys. ‘Summer Skin’ is the first indie/pop anthem lifted from his forthcoming debut EP, scheduled for release this October.

LOST IN TUNDRAlost in tundraWest London based duo Lost In Tundra returned with their second single ‘Tiger’. Having made music together since as young as twelve, Harrison and Fred began working under the moniker of Lost In Tundra in early 2013, reunited by a shared love of 80s pop, trip hop and dark electronic tinged indie.

THOR RIXONTHOR RIXONCape Town, South Africa-based producer/live performer/DJ, Thor Rixon , deliver the very interesting tune ‘Skepsel ‘ featuring Umlilo, Cape Town’s resident future kwaai fierce diva. Thor is also the head of naasMUSIC and naasFILMS as well as being one of the directors of the creative agency, the naas Collaborative.

CURXES CURXES-TWEETING“Blitz-pop” duo CURXES [kurs-iz] – Macaulay Hopwood and Roberta Fidora . Macaulay & Roberta met at a mid-point between the coastal towns of Brighton and Portsmouth.

HEELHeel1Upcoming London quartet Heel – Margarita (vocals), Dan (guitar), Yuta (bass), Tom (drums) – deliver ‘Stranger’ , a supercharged tune lifted from their EP ‘Stranger Just the Same’, available now. “Yes, we have a young female singer, but she doesn’t sing like Hayley Williams or Avril Lavigne, and we don’t strictly play like a metal influenced backing band. People just seem to love an arse kicking chick with a sick band behind her.”

RIM – REVOLUTION IS MErimRevolution Is Me is the title of the first album of RIM, came out in April 4, 2014 on label One More Lab, edited by Nar International (IT)/N2N(UK). In their music, energetic and fearless, the anglo-saxon influence can be felt beyond the choice of singing in English. Choice in this case dictated by a very precise logic and not from a foreigners spurious admiring. A rock, generous, genuine and determined, without metaphors and with precise ideas. A band destined to grow and to win the favors of the public.

Karmamoi are only at the start of their journey, but the signs are great: positive reviews, interviews and concerts that are spreading the band’s original music around the world. Karmamoi played on April 16th at The Borderline in London, as opening act for the historic British prog rock group Curved Air. Karmamoi have now welcomed their new vocalist Joline Forshaw to the fold. She is very much immersed within the Prog genre and the band look forward to touring, writing and recording with her in the months ahead.

French rockers Dot Legacy – Damien Quintard (Lead Vocals – Bass ), Arnaud Merckling (Guitar – Keyboard – Back Vocals ), John Defontaine (Guitar – Back Vocals) Romain Mottier
(Drums – Back) – Vocals) – make you jump between Stoner, Noise and even Post-Rock, often using wild or sophisticated subgenres absolved from meaning whatsoever. They
fought to find a unique mark and sound plus developed a stage act worth skipping bowling, between And So I Watch You From Afar and Health. From skeletons to lost souls, with only one song they make you whizz, buzz, fuzz.

The Blisters Boyz’s is a French duo of dj producers well know in Europe. Their first opus “BBZ” has been released in April 2010 on Paranoiak Label, an ambitious release acclaimed by fans and followed by catchy remixes of Micheal Jackson, Madonna or Justice (playlisted by Martin Solveig in his “Best oh 2011” mixtape). Their second release “Back in Time” EP in 2012, showed a radical change of career, focused on un-disco, hip-hop and often house sounds.

Goldman are a British pop act trio – Hayley Daviss, Paul Webb , Alex Ross – serving up dancey urban pop songs. Best served LOUD. Proper songs. Proper pop.
