Bianca, is this stunning 23 year-old from London via Nottingham who is about to become your favourite pop princess…Check out ‘Step it Up’, her brilliantly uplifting and catchy dance number.
Mentioning Queen of pop Madonna & 80s tunes, Cyndi Lauper and Pat Benetar as her key influences, Bianca wrote ‘Step it Up’ with Ali Love (Hot Natured, Second City), Anu Pillai (Ladyhawke, Little Boots, Roisin Murphy) and Eliza Doolittle and…She has written and recorded a host of incredible new songs with the likes of Biff Stannard (Spice Girls, Ellie Goulding), Nexus (Lana Del Ray, Hurts), Hygrade (Britney Spears, Cheryl Cole) and Holter & Erixson (Christina Aguilera, Ne-Yo, Bonnie McKee) for her forthcoming debut solo album…
Nice to meet you Bianca 🙂
Aloha! Nice to meet you too. 🙂
First up, can you tell us 5 things about yourself we should know?
I’m a Nottingham lass, I spent 3 years in the girl band ‘Parade’ before I started my solo record, I’m (sadly) not naturally blonde, I’m one of those crazy dog ladies who loves all animals (maybe more than people) and my entire iPod is filled with 80’s pop bangers – it’s a struggle to find anything post the year 2000 on there.
Tell us something about your first single ‘Step It Up’
I co-wrote it with Anu Pillai, Ali Love, Roy Kerr and Eliza Doolittle and the first time I heard the mix I knew it had to be the first single. I was so proud of it – it just felt right.
How do you sell your music…. to someone unfamiliar with your sound?
It is good old fun pop that takes inspiration from all those 80’s songs and artists that I love – like Madonna and Cyndi Lauper. It’s the sort of stuff that I hope people would want to get up and have a boogie to.
What are your dreams and goals?
A massive dream is to have people sing the words of my songs back when I’m performing live. There is no better feeling than that. I’d love to work with Prince too. (Maybe slightly unachievable?) But it’s always best to aim high, right?!
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
I’d love to collaborate with P!nk. Purely because she seems proper mental and a right laugh. She’s such a great artist who has definitely inspired me to be a performer that doesn’t really follow the trend and just does their own thing.
Are you planning any live shows and what will they be like?
Indeed I am. Can’t wait to be back performing live! They’ll be pop, fun, lively, colourful and maybe a little bit mad. It will be an amazing new experience for me to perform with a live band too.
What kind of music do you like?
I love up-tempo, unashamed pop. I’m not big on stuff that’s really deep and takes itself too seriously. That’s why I love all those 80’s pop songs because they were just amazing catchy melodies, fun lyrics and powerhouse productions that you could latch on to straight away. I think that’s why they are still so prominent now.
What’s coming next for you?
I’ll be continuing to promote ‘Step It Up’ by starting to do lots of live shows, there may be a little collab on the horizon and who knows, this time next year, we could be doing an arena tour. That’s the goal!
