FACE+HEEL ‘PIER VIDEO’: ‘AN ODE TO A LONG GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN VIDEO RENTAL SHOP’

Face+heel‘Our Princes’ Quarry’ is Bristol-Welsh duo Face + Heel’s (Luke Taylor and Sinead McMillan) debut album, that comes out on 15th April via their brand new label Dekalog OmniWare via Believe Digital.

The first track from their album is ‘Pier Video’, a slice of their complex and yet fetchingly direct, synth+electric guitar-infused electro-pop.

‘Pier Video’ is “an ode to the long gone but never forgotten video rental shop on Aberystwyth Pier – explains Luke – Some of it’s parts were recorded on an unreturned copy of ‘Girl Interrupted’ from that shop.”

On the love/hate liaison with his hometown of Aberystwyth in North Wales, lyricist Luke reveals…”Some of the instrument choices and structures are there to reflect what I was listening to growing up in the 90s in West Wales. It’s both in love with the place and has a sense of resentment at how remote and marginal it is and how every street has a memory of growing up; good or bad.”
