Duke Special follows a sold out October tour of Ireland with his final headline show of the year in Northern Ireland at Derry’s St Columb’s Hall at the end of November
The Winding Stair will be special guests at this show.
thumbs up. Later with Jools Holland was one of many media highlights as the record spread the word. Work on the follow up will begin soon.
Duke Special is the alias of Peter Wilson, a singer-songwriter from Belfast who mixes influences from rich pop to vaudeville to create a sound that is very much his own. His talent won him support tours with the likes of Aqualung and Rufus Wainwright before he’d even released a full length album. Independent label released EPs Lucky Me, My Villain Heart (these two were later repackaged as an album – Adventures In Gramophone) and Your Vandal signalled something special.
Live, Duke Special is a vibrant thing, with Peter joined by a collective of remarkable talents which contribute to the uniqueness of the sound. The recent two show sellout at Belfast’s Grand Opera House (BBC Review below) demonstrating once more that you can leave preconceptions at the door and watch this remarkable talent surprise again and again.
