DiLisio is Mark Jeffries‘ solo music project. He’s based in Pittsburgh and has an amazing vocal range and he’s got this awesome ability to create catchy, rock ‘n’ roll love songs.
His last singles, Unicorn, God Almighty Will Cut Me Down and Honey Butter all lead to his third album, Slither.
With Slither, DiLisio wanted to respect his 1970s disco idol, George McCrae, while remaining loyal to his garage and alt-blues influences.
Honey Butter is the latest song from the upcoming album and gives you a glimpse of the mix of styles and meaningful lyrics that you can expect to hear throughout. Futurebirds’ sounds influenced Honey Butter, adding a unique and hard-to-ignore Americana ambiance.
DiLisio talked about the story behind Honey Butter, revealing that: “It’s a love song about not wishing you were anywhere else in the world but home. It’s about my wife Beth and how she makes specialty “honey butter” for breakfast on weekend mornings.”
DiLisio has created a 10-track album that combines indie-rock and neo-soul with Matt Very‘s smooth production to create a freshly engaging sound.
