South African DJ/producer DESIREE delivers a remix of Four Women via Verve; marking a rare rework of Nina Simone’s catalogue.
The track reworks the original with Afro-house textures, anchored by bass, synths, and a piano motif linking 1966 to now.
DESIREE explains:
There are songs that already say everything. ‘Four Women’ is one of them. The deeper I got into Nina Simone’s world, the more I felt it speaking directly to me. When I came to make this remix, I didn’t want to change what it meant. I just wanted to bring it somewhere new, somewhere you could move to it, lose yourself in it, and still feel every word.
With this release, DESIREE aligns cultural legacy with club functionality, extending Four Women into a new, globally resonant context without diluting its message.
